Sofia Med presented the results of a project for a more sustainable and safer working environment

Sofia, May 26, 2026 – Sofia Med held a closing event for the project “ADAPTED WORKING ENVIRONMENT AT SOFIA MED AD”, implemented under Contract No. BG05SFPR002-1.004-1199-C01 within the framework of the Human Resources Development Programme 2021–2027, co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus.

The event took place at the company’s production facility in Sofia and included an Open Doors Day, presentation of the project results, a plant tour, and demonstrations of the implemented solutions aimed at improving the working environment and the organization of production processes.

The project is focused on addressing the new challenges related to the transition towards a climate-neutral economy and the changing models of work, while contributing to the development of a safer, healthier, and more sustainable working environment for the company’s employees.

As part of the initiative, which covered 583 employees, Sofia Med introduced sustainable models and maps for organizing work processes aimed at increasing resource efficiency and reducing environmental impact. The activities also included team training related to sustainable work practices and environmental responsibility.

The company also invested in further improving working conditions through the provision of specialized workwear and personal protective equipment for employees. Within the framework of the initiative, 50 sets of specialized workwear, 450 pairs of summer safety shoes, 441 pairs of winter safety shoes, 707 winter protective bib-and-brace overalls with jackets, 778 summer workwear sets, 478 safety helmets, and 89 foundry suits made of flame-retardant fabric were provided.

During the event, Vasil Harizanov, Sustainability Manager at Sofia Med, presented the project and its results, emphasizing the company’s commitment to sustainable development.

“Responsible growth includes not only investments in technologies and production processes, but also consistent care for people and the working environment. This project is another step in that direction,” commented Vasil Harizanov.

This initiative supports Sofia Med’s long-term strategy for climate-neutral production and the development of a comprehensive sustainable production model and corporate culture focused on sustainability, environmental responsibility, and ensuring safe and healthy working conditions for all employees.
